The University of North Texas System administers compensation in compliance with the FLSA. The FLSA is a federal law administered under the Department of Labor that defines the federal minimum wage, overtime regulations and related record keeping requirements for employers. The FLSA governs the process and tests used to determine overtime eligibility. Individuals classified as “non-exempt” are subject to the minimum wage and overtime provisions of the FLSA, while jobs classified as “exempt” are not subject to these provisions. The Compensation and Performance Management Team reviews the responsibilities of new job titles for determination of FLSA classification as exempt or non-exempt, and conducts regular audits to ensure that exempt employees meet the minimum salary threshold currently at $35,568.
