The UNT System uses The Work Number® automated or online service to provide employment and income verifications.

Employees at all locations who need official verification of employment for consumer loans, home or auto purchases or leases, housing,  identification for government benefits and similar uses may obtain employment and salary data without delay, usually within minutes.

The service is available 24 hours, every day and can be accessed from any location. All interactions are private and protected by the federal Fair Credit Reporting Act.

The Work Number is a national vendor used by State of Texas universities, plus Fortune 500 companies and the majority of federal government civilian employers. This service simplifies and accelerates qualifying decisions through an online system available to verifiers 24 hours a day, every day. Approximately 99 percent of all lending and service institutions in the United States participate in The Work Number, which is part of the Equifax credit monitoring organization. There is no cost to the UNT System.

Employees also can access one free Employment Data Report (EDR) each year. The report provides historical employment and income information and verifier requests for the past two years.

Give the person in need of proof of your employment, the verifier, this information:

• Your social security number.
• Employer Code 18021 (University of North Texas System, UNT Dallas, UNT Denton, UNT Health Science Center).
• The Work Number Access Options for Verifiers, which are 800-367-5690 and website, www.theworknumber.com.

This report provides employment and income information and verifier requests.  To receive this employee generated report:

• Access The Work Number online or by telephone, 800-367-2884.
• Follow prompts to select the option to obtain a copy of your Employment Data Report (EDR).
• Employer Code is 18021 (University of North Texas System, UNT Dallas, UNT Denton, UNT Health Science Center).
• User ID is your social security number.
• PIN is the last four digits of your social security number and your four digit year of birth; you will be asked to change the pin after initial login.
