Holidays

Staff and faculty who work at least 20 hours per week for a period of at least four-and-a-half continuous months per year are eligible for paid holidays. Employees who work less than full time receive holiday leave based on the percent of hours worked or appointed. (Example, an employee working 20 hours a week receives 4 hours of Holiday leave for a holiday).

Holidays are officially designated by order of the UNT System Board of Regents. Not every State legislature-approved holiday is scheduled as a holiday by institutions of higher education.

  • All campuses/locations have the same holidays for FY20, including a one-day floating holiday to be selected by the employee with supervisory approval.
  • All locations have the same holidays for FY21, including two one-day floating holidays to be selected by the employee with supervisory approval.
