Plan Year 2025 Changes Include:
Healthcare Insurance - No rates changes for healthcare insurance premiums and only small increases to the out of pocket maximums for Health Select of Texas and Consumer Directed HealthSelect plans (from $7,050 to $7,500 for individuals and $14,100 to $15,000 for family) to align with IRS maximums.
Dental Insurance - ERS has reported no changes to premiums, providers or coverages.
Vison Insurance - ERS has reported no changes to premiums, providers or coverages.
Texas Income Protection Plan Disability Insurance - The waiting period required by the Short-Term Disability plan will be reduced from 30 to 14 calendar days. This means you will receive benefits sooner, but you will still need to exhaust your sick leave before your coverage begins. This is a great benefit for those with limited sick leave.
TexFlex Healthcare and Dependent Flexible Spending Account - The IRS establishes the maximum annual limits applicable to flexible spending accounts and carryover amounts. For plan year 2025 (September 1, 2024 to August 31, 2025), participants with a healthcare or limited-purpose FSA can contribute up to $3,200 (up from $3,050), and the carryover amount is increasing from $610 to $640. Funds not used by August 31, 2024 will roll forward to the next plan year. Dependent Care maximum contribution limits will remain the same at $5,000.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
What is Summer Enrollment?
Summer enrollment is an annual event that allows employees to make changes to their health insurance and optional insurance coverage for the new plan year. Changes made during this summer enrollment period will be effective September 1, 2024 for Plan-Year 2025 (September 1, 2024 thru August 31, 2025). Premium and other changes will be reflected on your October 1, 2024 paycheck (September 15, 2024 for semi-monthly payroll).
What if I don’t want to make any changes to my benefits or dependents during summer enrollment?
No action is required if you do not want to make any changes to your benefits or dependents during summer enrollment 2024. Your current benefit and dependent elections will simply roll forward to the new plan year on September 1, 2024. Although, we highly recommend that all employees log into their ERS account to verify their contact and beneficiary information, as well as reconfirm their benefit and dependent elections and make any needed changes while you have the chance during summer enrollment.
Where can I get information on upcoming summer enrollment webinars and how do I register?
Employees can obtain more information about the summer enrollment process, information regarding benefits and upcoming changes by attending one of nine summer enrollment webinars offered by ERS and one of multiple webinars offered by each of the benefit providers.
