Linda McKeive

Linda McKeiver is like a bubbling fountain of optimism and motivation (just ask her team), which makes her a great fit at the New College at our upstart campus in Frisco. Her role as Program Associate Director encompasses many human resources functions that include people, culture and processes. Her ambition is unlimited as evidenced by her current pursuit of a Ph.D. at UNT's College of Information, focusing on information-seeking behavior, which complements her degree in human behavior. But there's much more here than meets the eye such as her surf-and no-turf diet and her sports fanaticism that includes watching the talking heads on those sports shows loudly debate every move -- of course that could have as much to do with her interest in human behavior as it does sports.

Q&A

What is your favorite aspect about your job?
I enjoy building relationships with people, listening to what they say, and understanding their needs. People, in turn, feel valued and respected. Having this level of emotional intelligence makes working relationships on the job more enjoyable.

What employee benefit or activity would you like to see added to UNT World?
Free UNT Parking or one free meal a month for employees.

What is your proudest work moment?
I started "Motivational Mondays" for the Frisco Team. I share mindful quotes each Monday morning, hoping to encourage the team. I also encourage the team to share a motivational quote, photo, or personal challenge to encourage others to start the week on an optimistic note. I find it remarkable when I meet people who recognize me through my "Motivational Monday" quotes. I’m truly honored to make an impact on so many people's lives.

What is your proudest non-work moment?
With the help of donors, I have awarded high school students with collegial scholarships.

What is a fact about you that may surprise your work colleagues?
I’m a pescatarian that loves watching basketball, football, and the sports shows First Take and Undisputed.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE...
Movie?: A Beautiful Mind is a remarkable movie that teaches humans to treasure each other’s differences and patiently learn to embrace those in need of help.
Place to visit: I have lived in various places as a spouse of a retired veteran, but I would enjoy seeing the Colosseum in Italy and Grand Cayman Island again.
Restaurant?: Simply Fondue is one of my favorite places to eat. Conversing, laughing and cooking food for over two hours makes my heart smile.
