What's Your Pronoun?
People often make assumptions about the gender of another person based on a person's name or appearance. Many names can be unisex, and others can have origins from other nations. So, assumptions can often be wrong, and that can send a potentially harmful message by making people think they have to look a certain way to demonstrate the gender that they are or are not, or it can show disrespect to someone's cultural background. Pronouns are words like she, him and they, which are used in place of a person’s name when speaking about them. The importance of having an awareness of pronouns is all about respect for one another.
